Founded by the Pearson family, Clairtex have been in textiles for over a quarter of a century. Based in South Wales, a few miles from Abergavenny and a thousand feet higher, at Tredegar, the factory and warehouse are surrounded by truly the most spectacular countryside. Over a period of time Clairtex has developed a reputation as one of the finest curtain makers in the United Kingdom. Their factory supplies curtains to some of the most important decorative retailers in the country.
Philip Edwards has enjoyed a high profile in the home furnishing industry. He has headed up several major brand names over the last twenty years and subsequently founded Academy in the mid nineties. Academy Clairtex joined forces at the beginning of the millennium. Now a separate entity to the curtain business, Academy Clairtex Ltd are fabric converters and in the United Kingdom act as distributors to the textile industry.
Collaborating today with top designers and colourists Academy Clairtex create stunning fabric ranges, and edit specialist collections based on colour, design and textures. Working for the most part with natural fibres the company have in a few short years built up a reputation for innovatively designed collections using beautiful base fabrics. The company take a delight and enjoy working with specialist manufacturers, small family run weaving mills, printers who still have the ability to hand print cloth, textile finishers who can create textile illusions and above all the design teams and colourists.
Academy Clairtex truly believe that textiles are an art form. From the moment of conception to final production all fabrics are treated as such. |
